The 2024/2025 Committee of the Pan African Choir comprises dedicated leaders and visionaries who bring their expertise, passion, and commitment to advancing our mission. Under the guidance of founder Simon Yiga, the committee plays a pivotal role in preserving African musical heritage, empowering communities, and connecting cultures through music.

    Committee Chairperson

    Former CEO of Mount Family Group, David brings extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, and philanthropy. His global commitment to community service strengthens the choir’s outreach and growth.

  • Sarah Ndagire

    Cultural Programs Coordinator

    A Ugandan singer-songwriter based in Texas, Sarah bridges cultures through performances and workshops. Her passion for African heritage shines through her work, connecting diverse audiences to the soul of Uganda.

  • Dorothy Nalubega

    Advocacy and Sustainability Lead

    A climate change advocate and gender rights activist, Dorothy chairs the East African Women Greens Network and leads initiatives on gender equality and ecological sustainability.

    Artistic Development Advisor

    James is a talented artist, poet, and choreographer advocating for Cultural Intelligence and Global Citizenship. As a Teaching Artist with Arts Everyday, he blends education and performance to inspire global awareness.

    Educational Programs Consultant

    Chair and Associate Professor of Fine Arts at St. Michael’s College, William is deeply engaged in fostering artistic appreciation and nurturing talent. His expertise enriches the choir’s educational mission.

    Founder and Executive Director

    Founder of the Pan African Choir Uganda, Simon is a renowned Ugandan composer and music educator. His vision to revitalize African choral music has transformed PACU into an internationally recognized ensemble.

Simon Yiga’s Story

Simon Yiga founded the Pan African Choir Uganda in 2013 with a mission to preserve and share Africa’s rich choral traditions. Rooted in Uganda’s cultural music heritage, Simon’s leadership has propelled PACU from a local choir to a global movement. His dedication to education, empowerment, and cultural preservation continues to inspire communities worldwide.
