Beyond the Mask: A New Film Begins to Take Shape
Beyond the Mask is a new film exploring the stories, identities, and experiences hidden beneath the surface. Beginning this September, preparations will get underway as Vermont-based artist and cultural practitioner Simon Yiga leads the project into its development and production phase. Supported by a $10,000 Creation Grant from the Vermont Arts Council, the film will bring together storytelling, culture, artistic expression, and lived experience to explore identity, resilience, vulnerability, belonging, and the human stories we often keep behind the mask.

Vermont Artist Simon Yiga Receives $10,000 Creation Grant for Beyond the Mask
Vermont-based artist and cultural practitioner Simon Yiga has qualified for a $10,000 Creation Grant from the Vermont Arts Council to support the execution of Beyond the Mask, an interdisciplinary live storytelling project exploring identity, resilience, culture, vulnerability, and the human stories hidden beneath the surface. The grant will support the creative development and production of the project as it moves from concept to performance between September 2026 and January 2027.
