From Uganda to Canada — The Pan African Choir Ensemble Accepted for Choral Kathaumixw 2027

A journey of music, culture and friendship across continents

Powell River, British Columbia | July 5–10, 2027

A new chapter is opening for the Pan African Choir Ensemble from Uganda.

We are delighted to announce that the Pan African Choir Ensemble has been accepted to participate in the 2027 Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada.

For the singers of the ensemble, this is more than a journey across oceans. It is an invitation to share Uganda's voice, celebrate African musical heritage, and meet fellow musicians and communities through the universal language of song.

A Meeting of Voices

Choral music has a remarkable way of bringing people together. Different languages, traditions and histories can meet in a single harmony.

At Choral Kathaumixw 2027, the Pan African Choir Ensemble will carry with it the sounds, rhythms and cultural expressions of Uganda, joining choirs and musical voices from around the world.

The stage becomes a meeting place.

The song becomes a conversation.

And every voice becomes part of a larger story.

Carrying Uganda to the World

For the Pan African Choir Ensemble, international performance is an opportunity to introduce audiences to the wealth and diversity of African musical traditions.

From the melodies of the choir to the stories carried through rhythm and movement, the ensemble seeks to offer audiences more than a performance.

It offers a window into Uganda.

A chance to listen.

A chance to connect.

A chance to discover the people and culture behind the music.

Beyond the Concert Stage

The journey to Powell River is also about cultural exchange.

The ensemble will have the opportunity to encounter other choirs, musicians, organizers and communities, creating space for friendship, learning and collaboration.

These encounters are at the heart of international cultural exchange: not simply presenting our own traditions, but listening to others and discovering what becomes possible when cultures meet.

A Journey That Belongs to Many

Behind every international performance is a community of people.

Singers preparing their voices.

Families supporting the journey.

Teachers and mentors sharing knowledge.

Partners opening doors.

Friends believing in the power of music.

And supporters helping make the journey possible.

The road from Uganda to British Columbia will therefore be a shared journey.

Join the Journey

The Pan African Choir Ensemble's participation in Choral Kathaumixw 2027 is an opportunity to build new relationships between Uganda and Canada through music and culture.

We invite individuals, organizations, cultural institutions, businesses and friends of the Pan African Choir to become part of this journey.
